Grilled Korean Skirt Steak
Ingredient
- 2 to 3 bananas or Cubanelle peppers
- 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 3/4 to 2 pounds of skirt steak, trimmed and cut transversely into 4-inch chunks
- 1 large garlic, cut into 2-inch thickness
- 3 tablespoons of sesame seeds
- 4 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 1 cup of cola
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 1/4 cup roasted sesame oil
- Kosher salt and fresh pepper
- 6 to 8 thick slices of bacon
Instructions
- Stick a steak several times with a fork. Bake the sesame seeds in a skillet over medium heat until golden, shake the pan, 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a plate to cool.
- Mix sesame seeds, garlic, cola, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a large bowl, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Add steak, sliced onions and meat, turn to coat. Cover and chill 4 hours or overnight.
- Remove the steak and sliced onions from the marinade with a slotted spoon and transfer to a baking sheet. Preheat the grill pan over high heat. Bake slices of onion and paprika, turning, until charred, 8 to 10 minutes. Move to the plate. Bake the steak until charred, 4 to 5 minutes per side to medium cooked. Add to plate.
